Salinas, CA – On the evening of Sunday, August 31, 2025, a fatal multi-vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of Old Stage Road and Natividad Road, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) first received reports around 7:56 PM of an accident involving a red truck, a silver Honda Civic, and a third vehicle, with at least one fatality reported.
Emergency responders from the CHP and local fire departments arrived quickly, finding the roadway completely blocked. Northbound lanes were initially inaccessible, forcing units to detour around the scene while first responders secured the area.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the collision, including determining fault and vehicle involvement. At this time, no identities of any victims have been released.
Wrongful Death Claims & Comparative Negligence
Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s Comparative Negligence rule, several parties can share partial responsibility. Should someone else be found even partly responsible for the death, the family may be able to file a Wrongful Death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. This can provide compensation to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income to support the family of the deceased.
