Rancho Calaveras, CA – On the morning of Saturday, August 16, 2025, a single-vehicle rollover crash left one person dead, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 10:22 AM on State Route 12 just west of Un Road B.
Authorities say a white Honda Accord traveled westbound when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle rolled multiple times before coming to rest in a field on the south side of the roadway. Witnesses reported hearing brakes before seeing the sedan overturn several times. The wrecked car remained visible from the highway.
Emergency crews responded quickly, including CHP officers and medical personnel. Firefighters began CPR on the driver at the scene, but the victim succumbed to injuries and died before transport. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released, pending notification of family.
Caltrans assisted at the scene with traffic management, while a tow company recovered the heavily damaged vehicle. Authorities continue to investigate the factors that caused the fatal crash.
Single-Vehicle Collisions
In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages.
