San Mateo, CA – In the early evening of Thursday, July 31, 2025, a traffic collision involving a black SUV and a light pole resulted in at least one fatality, according to CHP Fatal.
The San Mateo Police Department reports that the incident occurred on the eastbound off-ramp from State Route 92 to Alameda de las Pulgas shortly before 6:20 PM.
According to initial investigations, a black SUV crashed into a light pole. The light pole remained upright following the collision. The area was shut down for an extended period as first responders assessed the scene and coordinated lane closures
Authorities from both the San Mateo Police Department and CHP were present at the scene.
Additional details regarding the identity of the decedent or the cause of the crash had not yet been released. This is an ongoing investigation.
