Ventura County, CA – In the early morning hours of Saturday, July 26, 2025, a fatal single-vehicle collision occurred on State Route 118 near Price Road, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports the crash took place around 3:59 AM and involved a single vehicle. The collision resulted in a utility pole being sheared, prompting emergency responders to contact Southern California Edison to address the downed infrastructure. Ventura County Fire Department personnel responded to the scene, along with officers from the California Highway Patrol.
Due to the severity of the incident and ongoing rescue and investigation efforts, State Route 118 was shut down between Price Road and Aggen Road for several hours. The California Department of Transportation assisted in establishing a hard closure.
At approximately 4:35 AM, the Ventura County Medical Examiner was notified, confirming that the incident resulted in a fatality.
