Fresno County, CA – On the night of Saturday, July 26, 2025, a single-vehicle crash involving a Chevrolet Tahoe resulted in at least one fatality on East Mount Whitney Avenue near Cedar Avenue, according to CHP Fatal.
California Highway Patrol (CHP) received reports of the crash at approximately 9:53 PM. The vehicle is said to have left the roadway and collided with trees before overturning and coming to rest on its side in a walnut orchard.
The incident was initially reported as a major-injury collision, but was later upgraded to a fatal crash following a coroner notification just before midnight.
Emergency services were dispatched shortly after the collision. Two occupants were reportedly inside the vehicle. One of the passengers required expedited transport to Community Regional Medical Center by ambulance. The condition of the other passenger remains unconfirmed.
CHP continues to investigate the circumstances of the collision. The involvement of alcohol or other impairing substances has not been confirmed at this time.
Single-Vehicle Collisions
In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages.
