Fatal Single-Vehicle Crash on SR-4 near South Hewitt Rd in Stockton

Stockton, CA – On the night of Saturday, July 18, 2025, a single-vehicle crash resulted in a fatality on State Route 4 near South Hewitt Road, according to CHP Fatal.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the crash occurred around 11:49 PM and involved a Chevrolet Impala that collided with a tree. Responding officers found debris scattered across the roadway upon arrival.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and confirmed the crash had caused significant damage to the vehicle. The westbound lanes of State Route 4 were closed to allow for investigation and cleanup operations. Authorities contacted the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office to coordinate the response and manage traffic control.

Tow services were requested for the severely damaged vehicle. CALTRANS was also notified to assist with debris removal and roadway maintenance.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been released. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
