Barstow, CA – On the night of Monday, July 14, 2025, a crash involving a big rig and a sedan on Interstate 15 resulted in at least one fatality, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the collision occurred around 9:08 PM on southbound Interstate 15 near the Hodge Road off-ramp.
Authorities say a gray Honda Civic was struck by a big rig, with the impact leaving the sedan in the center divide and debris scattered across multiple lanes. The big rig came to a stop on the right-hand shoulder of the off-ramp. Responding fire personnel arrived shortly after the collision and confirmed at least one person had died at the scene.
All lanes were eventually reopened by 12:10 AM. Investigators are continuing to review statements and evidence to determine the cause of the collision.
Wrongful Death Claims
Even if a fatal accident doesn’t lead to criminal charges, families who lose a loved one can still file a Wrongful Death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. This can provide support to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income.
