Val Verde, CA – On the evening of Friday, July 11, 2025, a multi-vehicle collision on State Route 126 resulted in multiple injuries and at least one confirmed fatality, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the crash occurred around 5:35 PM near the area of Sharp Ranch on the eastbound side of State Route 126.
Initial reports indicated that as many as four vehicles were involved in the incident, including a Chevrolet Tahoe, a white Subaru Crosstrek, and a blue SUV. One of the vehicles, a white Subaru, was severely damaged with a party reportedly trapped and unresponsive inside. Emergency crews responded quickly to the scene, and Ventura County Fire Department confirmed five total patients, including one declared deceased at the scene.
Authorities stated that at least one individual was found on the ground following the crash. Smoke was seen rising from the wreckage, and all eastbound lanes were temporarily blocked to allow access for emergency responders. Caltrans crews were called in to assist with traffic control and cleanup.
Tow services were dispatched to remove the vehicles, and by late evening, the highway was partially reopened. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.
The crash remains under investigation. Authorities have not released any information regarding potential causes, such as speed, distraction, or impairment.
