Fatal Crash with Tree at SR-116, SR-121 in Sonoma County

Sonoma County, CA One person was killed when a silver SUV crashed into a tree early Saturday morning, June 21, 2025, near the intersection of State Route 116 and State Route 121, according to CHP Fatal.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the collision was reported at approximately 4:57 AM. 

CHP logs indicate that the vehicle was cut in half after it struck a tree and wrapped around it. Emergency responders arrived to find debris scattered and the vehicle split into multiple pieces.

The Sonoma County Coroner’s Office was notified and dispatched a deputy to the scene. Tri County Towing was called to remove the wreckage. The roadway was cleared by about 7:07 AM, though a precautionary SigAlert was issued earlier in the morning due to lane closures.

The identity of the deceased has not been released pending notification of next of kin. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
