Hesperia, CA – On the afternoon of Wednesday, June 18, 2025, a three-vehicle collision resulted in at least one fatality and blocked traffic in both directions, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the accident occurred around 1:44 PM at the intersection of Summit Valley Road and Foley Road.
One of the vehicles involved, a white box truck, was found overturned on its side. A black Honda Accord, a blue Toyota pickup truck, and a FedEx delivery van were also reported at the scene.
Authorities later confirmed that a fatality had occurred and contacted the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Coroner Division to respond. The exact number of injured parties has not been disclosed.
The roadway remained closed for several hours to allow for investigation, vehicle recovery, and cleanup, causing significant delays throughout the area. By 6:48 PM, CHP confirmed that the roadway had reopened, though residual delays persisted into the evening.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
Wrongful Death Claims & Comparative Negligence
Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s Comparative Negligence rule, several parties can share partial responsibility. Should someone else be found even partly responsible for the death, the family may be able to file a Wrongful Death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. This can provide compensation to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income to support the family of the deceased.
