Hollister, CA – In the early morning hours of Saturday, June 14, 2025, a head-on collision on State Route 25 near McConnell Road resulted in one person losing their life, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the crash occurred shortly before 4:20 AM.
One of the vehicles, described as a silver Subaru, sustained heavy front-end damage and was found off the roadway in a ditch. The second vehicle, reportedly a four-door sedan, caught fire as a result of the impact and was severely burned.
Passersby stopped to assist, pulling at least one male occupant from one of the vehicles prior to the arrival of first responders. Emergency crews from the local fire department and law enforcement were quickly dispatched to the scene.
Despite their efforts, at least one fatality was confirmed at the site of the crash. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
The collision resulted in a complete shutdown of SR-25 in both directions. Caltrans was notified to initiate a hard closure and dispatch cleanup crews. Officers established traffic diversions at Flynn Road and SR-156.
The roadway remained closed for several hours as officials conducted an investigation, cleared the wreckage, and ensured the area was safe for travel. By approximately 7:48 AM, all lanes of SR-25 had reopened.
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the crash, including whether speed, impairment, or other factors may have played a role. Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact local authorities.
