Fremont, CA – In the early morning hours of Saturday, June 14, 2025, a motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a big rig, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the accident occurred on the southbound Interstate 880 off-ramp at Alvarado Boulevard at approximately 6:40 AM.
According to preliminary reports, the motorcycle rider was allegedly engaging in reckless driving behavior immediately prior to the collision with the white-and-blue big rig. The impact of the crash left the rider down in the slow lane, blocking multiple lanes of traffic.
Emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene, including CHP officers, the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), and medical responders. A SigAlert was issued at 6:51 AM, closing all but the left lane on southbound I-880 as authorities worked to assess the situation and clear the roadway. All lanes of traffic were reopened by 8:00 AM, and the SigAlert was officially lifted at 8:01 AM.
The Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau was notified and arrived at the scene later in the morning. The victim’s name will be released pending notification of next of kin.
CHP investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash, including any contributing factors related to speed, road conditions, or driver behavior.
