Yuba County, CA – On the early morning of Wednesday, June 11, 2025, a multi-vehicle collision resulted in at least one fatality in an orchard near State Route 70 and Old State Highway, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident occurred around 7:38 AM, involving a pickup truck and multiple vehicles near the east side of the roadway, approximately one mile south of the initial response location. Emergency responders, including fire and medical personnel, arrived on the scene and located the involved vehicles in or near an orchard.
Despite life-saving efforts, at least one individual was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities from the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office were notified and responded to assist with the investigation and to coordinate with the coroner’s office.
The California Department of Transportation was also advised, as the crash did not occur on the freeway but impacted traffic in the surrounding area. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
Wrongful Death Claims & Comparative Negligence
Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s Comparative Negligence rule, several parties can share partial responsibility. Should someone else be found even partly responsible for the death, the family may be able to file a Wrongful Death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. This can provide compensation to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income to support the family of the deceased.
