Driver Killed in Big Rig Crash near UC Davis on I-80

Davis, CA – On the early afternoon of Tuesday, June 10, 2025, a single-vehicle crash on the Interstate 80 westbound off-ramp near UC Davis resulted in fatal injuries to a male driver, according to CHP Fatal.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident occurred around 12:47 PM on the right-hand shoulder of the Interstate 80 westbound Davis off-ramp, just east of the undercrossing.

Emergency responders found the driver unresponsive within a white big rig, which had struck an exit sign and come to rest against a concrete barrier.

Fire personnel initiated CPR on the scene and blocked the off-ramp during rescue operations. Despite life-saving efforts, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The Yolo County Sheriff’s Office and other authorities responded to assist and coordinate the coroner’s arrival.

The off-ramp was closed for several hours while crews conducted the investigation and cleared the scene. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Single-Vehicle Collisions

In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages.
