Fatal Crash at I-580 East Keller Ave Off-Ramp in Hayward

Hayward, CA – On the evening of Monday, June 9, 2025, a single‑vehicle collision resulted in a fatal injury, according to CHP Fatal.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 7:30 PM at the Interstate 580 East off‑ramp to Keller Avenue.

Authorities indicated that the crash occurred on the right‑hand shoulder of the off‑ramp, prompting an officer‑led traffic break and resulting in the closure of the inside two lanes. Emergency crews, including Caltrans and tow operators, responded to clear the scene.

The coroner was dispatched to the location shortly after the collision was confirmed fatal. Recovery efforts involved deploying heavy‑duty tow trucks to remove the damaged vehicle, and the ramp remained restricted into the evening hours.

No further information has been released about the identity of the victim or the specific circumstances of the crash. The CHP continues to investigate the cause and sequence of events that led to the fatal collision.

Single-Vehicle Collisions

In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages.
