Hayward, CA – On the morning of Tuesday, May 27, 2025, a fatal multi-vehicle collision occurred on the eastbound side of State Route 92 near the Toll Plaza off-ramp, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports the crash took place around 7:15 AM in a parking area adjacent to the toll booths, where a vehicle traveling eastbound struck two other parked vehicles. The impact caused one vehicle to begin smoking, although there was no active fire.
Emergency personnel responded to the scene and confirmed the incident resulted in at least one fatality. The coroner was notified shortly after 7:30 AM.
Authorities stated there was no impact to traffic lanes, and no road closures were reported as a result of the crash. The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
CHP urges drivers to remain attentive at all times and to use extra caution near toll plazas and parking areas.
