Los Banos, CA – In the early morning of Thursday, May 22, 2025, a fatal single-vehicle crash occurred on the State Route 152 eastbound connector to northbound Interstate 5, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the incident took place around 4:49 AM, just outside of Los Banos.
Authorities were alerted to an overturned vehicle on its side blocking lanes near the connector ramp. Emergency services, including fire crews and Caltrans, were dispatched to the scene.
Responders confirmed that one individual was killed in the crash. The identity of the victim has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
The vehicle was reported to be on its side with visible damage, and lane closures were initiated to allow for investigation and cleanup. The number two lane of the eastbound connector was shut down for an extended period. Authorities also reported damage to roadside infrastructure, including the guardrail and a light pole near the off-ramp.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. CHP has not released information regarding whether drugs, alcohol, or speed may have contributed to the incident.
