Single-Vehicle Crash Kills Driver near SR-178, SR-127 in Shoshone, Inyo County

Shoshone, CA – On Tuesday, April 29, 2025, a single-vehicle crash resulted in fatal injuries to one person, according to CHP Fatal.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the accident took place around 9:49 AM near the intersection of State Route 178 and State Route 127 in rural Inyo County.

Emergency responders arrived to find a green Honda Civic off the roadway with significant damage, including two blown-out tires and a flat. The driver, whose identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin, was pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and it is not yet clear whether speed, mechanical failure, or other factors played a role.
