Fatal Crash near I-5, California Aqueduct in Kern County

Kern County, CA – A fatal crash was reported on Interstate 5 South near the California Aqueduct early Sunday morning, February 16, 2025, according to CHPFatal.

California Highway Patrol (CHP) logs indicate that the incident was initially reported around 12:56 AM, with an unknown type of vehicle involved and located in the center divide.

Emergency responders, including the fire department, arrived at the scene and later conducted a water recovery operation under a bridge after locating the vehicle.

By 6:42 AM, CHP officially classified the incident as a fatality. Authorities have not yet released details on the victim or the cause of the crash.

The investigation remains ongoing.
