Sacramento, CA – One person was killed Saturday afternoon, January 1, 2025, after a vehicle crashed into a canal along Sunrise Boulevard, according to CHPFatal.
The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District reports that the crash occurred around 4:30 PM when a silver Ford Explorer, registered in New Mexico, lost control and collided with a concrete wall inside the canal.
Prior to the crash, witnesses reported the vehicle driving recklessly, including driving on the sidewalk. Bystanders attempted to assist the driver, but there was no response from inside the vehicle. Emergency crews arrived on the scene and pronounced the driver dead.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.
