Delano, CA – On Saturday night, February 1, 2025, a head-on collision on Highway 43 left one person dead and another injured, according to KBAK.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 10:55 PM near Cecil Avenue, just north of Delano.
A white Nissan Sentra and a white Tesla collided head-on. The Nissan caught fire in the roadway, and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Emergency responders transported the Tesla driver to Kern Medical with moderate injuries.
Authorities temporarily shut down the northbound lanes of Highway 43 as they investigated. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and it is unclear if drugs or alcohol were factors.
Wrongful Death Claims
Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s Comparative Liability rule, several parties can share partial responsibility. A personal injury attorney can play a crucial role in helping victims establish legal responsibility after a traffic accident.
Should someone else be found even partly responsible for the death, the family may be able to file a Wrongful Death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. This can provide compensation to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income to support the family of the deceased.
