Troy Ashlock, 28, Named as Victim of Fatal Hwy 4 Crash near Tracy Blvd with Suspected DUI Driver

Tracy, CA — Authorities have identified 28-year-old Troy Ashlock as the Stockton man who lost his life in a head-on collision with a suspected drunk driver during the early hours of Wednesday morning, January 8, 2025, according to ABC10.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the crash occurred just west of Tracy Boulevard at approximately 12:30 AM and involved a Ford F-250 and a Jeep Compass driven by Ashlock.

Preliminary investigations seem to indicate that the driver of the Ford was traveling westbound when they crossed over the double yellow line and collided with the Jeep, which was heading eastbound.

Ashlock, a security guard from Stockton, was returning home from his shift in Discovery Bay when the collision occurred. He was the only occupant of the Jeep Compass. Authorities pronounced him dead at the scene.

The driver of the Ford, a 23-year-old suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol, sustained major injuries in the crash. They were transported to a hospital and later taken into custody.

California DUI Law

Section 23153(a) of the California Vehicle Code (CVC) states that it is illegal for any driver to “Operate a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs and, as a result, cause bodily injury to someone else.”

Wrongful Death Claims

Losing a loved one in a traffic accident is devastating, and the pain can be made worse by the financial strain that often follows. Medical bills, funeral costs, and the loss of income to support dependents of the deceased can leave families struggling.

Filing a Wrongful Death claim against those responsible can provide compensation to help with these expenses. However, insurance companies will always try to pay as little as possible, making it difficult for families to receive the full amount they deserve.

This is why having an experienced personal injury attorney is essential so that they can fight to make sure you receive fair compensation and justice for your loved one.

If you or someone you love was harmed in an accident like the one described here, feel free to contact Maison Law for any questions or to receive a no-cost, no-obligation case assessment.
