Bakersfield, CA – On Sunday afternoon, January 5, 2025, a crash involving a big rig left a motorcyclist with major injuries, according to KBAK.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported the collision occurred on northbound Highway 99, just south of Highway 46 around 3:38 PM.
Preliminary information indicates the big rig was traveling northbound on Highway 99 at the time of the crash. While the truck driver pulled over near the intersection of Highway 99 and Highway 46, it is still unclear whether the vehicle directly collided with the motorcycle or if it contributed to the accident in another way.
Following the crash, the motorcycle was found approximately 50 feet down an embankment on the right-hand side of the highway. Emergency responders quickly arrived and confirmed that the rider had sustained severe injuries.
By 6:33 PM, the incident was officially classified as a “Major-Injury” crash by CHP. Cleanup efforts continued into the evening as crews worked to remove debris from the scene.
The identities and current conditions of those involved have not yet been disclosed, and the cause of the collision remains under investigation.
Personal Injury Claims
Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s Comparative Liability rule, several parties can share partial responsibility. A personal injury attorney can play a crucial role in helping victims establish legal responsibility after a traffic accident.
Should evidence reveal that another party contributed to the injuries, victims may be eligible to file a personal injury claim with the responsible party’s insurance. This can provide compensation to help cover damages such as hospital bills and lost income during recovery.
