Fresno, CA – A California Highway Patrol (CHP) officer sustained injuries in a three-vehicle crash on Wednesday morning, December 18, 2024, at the intersection of Olive and Clovis Avenues, according to The Fresno Bee.
The collision occurred as the officer was stopped in his marked patrol vehicle in the number two lane of westbound Olive Avenue. When the traffic light turned green, the officer began moving through the intersection.
At the same time, a gray Honda Civic, traveling southbound on Clovis Avenue at approximately 45 MPH, ran a red light and collided with the front-right side of the patrol car. The impact caused the CHP vehicle to spin out of control, striking another Honda Civic traveling westbound in the number one left lane of Olive Avenue.
The CHP officer was transported to a local hospital with injuries described as minor to moderate. The driver of the gray Honda Civic suffered minor injuries, while the driver of the second Honda Civic was not reported injured. Authorities stated that alcohol or drugs are not suspected to have played a role in the incident.
The Fresno Police Department is leading the investigation into the crash. Traffic in the area was temporarily affected as crews worked to clear the scene and assess the situation.
Personal Injury Claims
When the actions of reckless drivers cause others to be injured, the cost of recovery should not fall on their victims. Filing a Personal Injury claim with the at-fault party’s insurance can provide compensation for medical bills and lost wages during recovery.
However, insurance companies often try to deny or minimize claims. That’s why having a knowledgeable personal injury attorney on your side is crucial to securing proper compensation for your injuries.
