Multi-Vehicle Crash with Big Rig Injures 1 on I-5 near I-80 in Sacramento

Sacramento, CA — On the night of Friday, December 13, 2024, a multi-vehicle crash involving a big rig truck resulted in one person being hospitalized, according to KCRA.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the accident took place around 7 PM on southbound Interstate 5 north of Interstate 80.

Initial investigations suggest that the multi-vehicle collision began with a Hyundai rear-ending a Subaru for reasons yet to be determined. The impact sent the Subaru across lanes of traffic and caused the passenger side of the vehicle to strike a big rig truck.

Emergency responders found that the driver of the Subaru had lost consciousness in the crash. They received transportation to a nearby hospital for treatment of their injuries.

The identity of those involved and the severity of the Subaru driver’s injuries have not yet been released to the public.

Authorities have not yet stated whether they believe the influence of drugs or alcohol to have been a factor in the accident.

The investigation into the causes of this multi-vehicle crash are ongoing.

Personal Injury Claims

Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s Comparative Liability rule, several parties can share partial responsibility. A personal injury attorney can play a crucial role in helping victims establish legal responsibility after a traffic accident.

Should evidence reveal that another party contributed to the injuries, victims may be eligible to file a personal injury claim with the responsible party’s insurance. This can provide compensation to help cover damages such as hospital bills and lost income during recovery.
