Tambo, CA ‒ The Yuba County Coroner’s Officer has identified 43-year-old Henry Sonny Olvera III as the Sacramento man who lost his life after crashing into an orchard on the morning of Saturday, December 14, 2024, according to KCRA.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the fatal single-vehicle accident took place around 8:20 AM off Highway 70 near Magnolia Road.

Investigators indicate that Olvera was driving a BMW through strong winds and heavy rain on Highway 70 when he lost control of his vehicle. It veered off the roadway and crashed into an orchard, where Olvera was thrown from his vehicle from the force of the impact.

Emergency responders arriving at the accident site found Olvera lying outside his vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

In addition to the inclement weather conditions, authorities have not stated if driver intoxication may have also been a factor in the crash.

Single-Vehicle Collisions and Comparative Negligence

In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility.

California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages. A personal injury attorney can play a critical role in sorting through these details to help victims and their families get the compensation they deserve.
