Quinceia McBean, 25, Killed in Suspected DUI Crash at Gettysburg, Fowler Ave in Clovis

Clovis, CA – A suspected DUI crash early Sunday morning, December 1, 2024, claimed the life of a 25-year-old woman identified as Quinceia McBean and left several others injured, according to KSEE.

Clovis Police reported the collision occurred shortly after 2 AM at the intersection of Gettysburg and Fowler Avenues.

A Hyundai, driven by a 19-year-old Clovis man with the last name of Himanshu (first name unknown), was heading westbound on Gettysburg Avenue. Investigators believe Himanshu failed to stop at a red light, T-boning another Hyundai that was traveling southbound on Fowler Avenue through a green light.

The violent impact caused both vehicles to spin out of control, colliding with three parked cars in the driveways of nearby homes. McBean, who was in the front passenger seat of the second vehicle, was transported to a local hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. The driver of McBean’s vehicle was hospitalized in critical condition.

Himanshu and two passengers in his vehicle sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital. He is expected to face multiple felony charges, including DUI, upon his release from the hospital. His bail has been set at $187,000.

California DUI Law

Section 23153(a) of the California Vehicle Code (CVC) states that it is illegal for any driver to “Operate a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs and, as a result, cause bodily injury to someone else.”

Wrongful Death Claims

Even if a fatal accident doesn’t lead to criminal charges, families who lose a loved one can still file a Wrongful Death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. This compensation can help cover medical bills, funeral costs, and lost income that the family depended on.

However, insurance companies will always try to pay as little as possible, making it difficult for families to receive the full amount they deserve. So, having an experienced personal injury attorney is essential to receive fair compensation and justice for your loved one.
