Reedley, CA — Authorities have identified the victims of a fatal rollover crash on Wednesday morning, November 27, 2024, that left one young man dead and another injured, according to KFSN.
The driver, 18-year-old Isael Acevedo of Reedley, was killed when the Honda Accord he was operating veered off Vino Avenue near Jim Savage Road, struck an irrigation pipe, and overturned multiple times before crashing into a vineyard of trees.
Acevedo was ejected from the car and pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, identified as 18-year-old Jorge Medina, also from Reedley, survived the crash with minor injuries. Medina was also ejected during the violent collision.
Farm workers nearby rushed to help after witnessing the accident. Medina reportedly asked one of the workers to call his mother, who arrived quickly to the scene.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), alcohol and high speed are suspected to have contributed to the crash.
After being transported to the hospital, Medina allegedly became combative, biting two officers who were assisting him. CHP confirmed that Medina was arrested on suspicion of felony assault on a peace officer, and the injured officers were treated for their wounds.
Passenger Liability
Driver liability insurance covers both those outside the vehicle and passengers inside. While it can be emotionally difficult to file a Personal Injury claim against someone close to the victim, the financial challenges after an accident can be overwhelming.
A skilled personal injury attorney can help families pursue proper compensation for their loss by handling these legal complexities and negotiating with insurance companies, who always try to reduce payouts on claims they cannot deny.
