Orangevale, CA – Authorities detained a driver on suspicion of DUI after four people, including three children, were hospitalized after a rollover crash Wednesday night, November 20, 2024, according to FOX40.
The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District reported that the single-vehicle crash occurred just before 9 PM near Chestnut Avenue and Greenback Lane, in the Orangevale community about 20 miles east of Sacramento. The vehicle, believed to be an SUV or van, rolled over onto the lawn of a residence and came to rest on its side against a tree.
First responders arrived to find two adults and three children trapped inside. Firefighters extricated the occupants using specialized tools. One adult was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, while the children were treated for minor to moderate injuries.
Photos shared by Metro Fire reveal the vehicle’s roof was torn off, and it lay with its underside wedged against a tree.
The driver, also an adult, was detained by the California Highway Patrol on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances of the crash. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the California Highway Patrol.
Passenger Liability
Driver liability insurance covers both those outside the vehicle and passengers inside. While it can be emotionally difficult to file a Wrongful Death or Personal Injury claim against someone close to the victim, the financial challenges after an accident can be overwhelming.
A skilled personal injury attorney can help families pursue proper compensation for their loss by handling these legal complexities and negotiating with insurance companies, who always try to reduce payouts on claims they cannot deny.
