Bakersfield, CA – A heartbreaking crash in northwest Bakersfield on Saturday night, November 16, 2024, claimed the life of a 2-year-old child, according to KBAK.
The Bakersfield Police Department (BPD) reported that officers responded to the intersection of Brimhall Road and Jenkins Road at approximately 8:40 PM.
Authorities determined the collision involved a red Honda traveling westbound and a red Chevrolet heading northbound. The infant passenger in the Chevrolet sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else in either vehicle reported injuries.
Both drivers remained at the location and are cooperating fully with investigators. According to police, excessive speed and impairment do not appear to have been factors in the crash.
The intersection is controlled by four-way stop signs, with speed limits set at 50 MPH on Brimhall Road and 45 MPH on Jenkins Road.
The family of the 2-year-old has created a GoFundMe to assist with funeral expenses and offer support.
Wrongful Death Claims
Losing a loved one in a traffic accident is devastating, and the pain can be made worse by the financial strain that often follows. Medical bills, funeral costs, and the loss of income to support dependents of the deceased can leave families struggling.
Filing a Wrongful Death claim against those responsible can provide compensation to help with these expenses. However, insurance companies will always try to pay as little as possible, making it difficult for families to receive the full amount they deserve.
This is why having an experienced personal injury attorney is essential so that they can fight to make sure you receive fair compensation and justice for your loved one.
