Off-Road Vehicle Passenger Killed in Crash on Kern Canyon Rd in Bakersfield

Bakersfield, CA — Authorities are investigating a deadly crash involving an off-road vehicle on Sunday afternoon, November 17, 2024, according to KBAK.

The Bakersfield Police Department responded that the accident occurred around 2:11 PM in the 11000 block of Kern Canyon Road.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a male passenger with severe injuries. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity will be released by the Kern County Coroner’s Office pending notification of his family.

According to the preliminary investigation, the four-seater off-road vehicle was climbing a hill when it struck a compacted dirt rut, causing it to overturn.

The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating fully with investigators. Police stated that drugs or alcohol are not believed to have played a role in the crash.

Passenger Liability

Driver liability insurance covers both those outside the vehicle and passengers inside. While it can be emotionally difficult to file a Wrongful Death or injury claim against someone close to the victim, the financial challenges after an accident can be overwhelming.

A skilled personal injury attorney can help families pursue proper compensation for their loss by handling these legal complexities and negotiating with insurance companies, who always try to reduce payouts on claims they cannot deny.
