Dust Storm near Chowchilla Leaves Many Injured after Massive Multi-Vehicle Pile-up on Hwy 152 near Rd 17

Chowchilla, CA — A sudden and intense dust storm swept across Highway 152 on Monday afternoon, November 11, 2024, leading to a massive pile-up involving around 20 vehicles, according to KFSN.

The accident occurred at approximately 1 PM near Road 17, just south of Chowchilla.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the storm created near-zero visibility, causing a chain reaction as drivers struggled to see and began colliding with one another.

CHP investigators believe that the dust storm was the primary cause of the multi-vehicle accident, as drivers reported not being able to see beyond a few feet.

Several individuals sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment. CHP officers managed the scene and provided assistance as they worked to clear the area and restore traffic flow.

Personal Injury Claims

After a car accident, victims and their families often deal with emotional distress along with unexpected financial burdens, such as medical bills, lost income, and, in the worst cases, burial costs.

A Personal Injury claim allows accident victims to hold the at-fault party financially responsible for their cost of care. However, insurance companies usually try to reduce payouts for claims they can’t deny.

This is where a skilled personal injury attorney becomes essential, helping ensure victims get the justice and compensation they deserve.
