Fatal Crash between Jeep, Big Rig on Hageman Rd in Bakersfield

Bakersfield, CA — A 70-year-old man from Roseburg, OR, was killed early Tuesday morning, November 5, 2024, in a collision on Hageman Road, according to KGET.

The accident occurred around 3:10 AM, east of Martin Avenue when the Jeep he was driving drifted into the oncoming lane.

CHP reports that the Jeep, which was towing a trailer, veered into the path of a westbound big rig. The Jeep collided with the truck’s trailer, striking its left rear axle before veering off the road into an orchard, where it overturned. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver, from Apple Valley, was uninjured.

Authorities say that drugs or alcohol are not suspected factors in the accident. The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.

Wrongful Death Claims

Determining fault in an accident can involve many factors. One key way a personal injury attorney can support families after the loss of a loved one is by helping to establish legal responsibility.

If someone else is found even partly responsible for the death, the family may be able to file a Wrongful Death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. This can provide compensation to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income to support the family of the deceased.

If you or someone you love was harmed in an accident like the one described here, feel free to contact Maison Law for any questions or to receive a no-cost, no-obligation case assessment.
