Fresno County, CA — A fatal crash on Sunday night, November 3, 2024, claimed the life of 25-year-old Robert Garcia, according to ABC30.
The collision occurred shortly after 9 PM at the intersection of Highway 41 and Mountain View Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Garcia was driving a Camaro northbound on Highway 41 at high speed when he ran a red light and crashed into a Nissan SUV carrying a 34-year-old woman and two children.
The woman sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital, while the children were reportedly unharmed.
After colliding with the SUV, Garcia’s vehicle struck a light pole, splitting the Camaro in two. Garcia was pronounced dead at the scene.
Highway 41 and Mountain View Avenue were closed as investigators worked to gather details on the cause of the crash and whether impairment may have been involved.
Wrongful Death Claims
In some cases, investigations may reveal that even when those who die in an accident appear to be at fault, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. A personal injury attorney plays a critical role in sorting through these details to help victims and their families get the compensation they deserve.
Once liability is determined, the attorney can negotiate with insurance companies, who often try to reduce payouts. That means having legal representation can be vital to ensure victims receive fair compensation for their loss.
Stop Sign Laws
California Law requires drivers to come to a complete stop at a Stop sign (California Vehicle Code 22450). Drivers may only enter the intersection when it appears safe for all parties to do so (California Vehicle Code 21802).
