Miguel Angel Marin, 22, Killed in Reed Ave Crash involving Big Rig in Reedley

Reedley, CA – A young Sanger man identified as 22-year-old Miguel Angel Marin, lost his life in the early hours of Saturday, November 2, 2024, after his vehicle collided with a parked big rig along Reed Avenue, according to KGET.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that, around 2:30 AM, Marin was traveling northbound on Reed Avenue, just south of South Avenue, when his 2018 Honda Civic veered left, crossing into the southbound lane and ultimately onto the dirt shoulder.

His vehicle struck the right rear corner of an unoccupied big rig, which was parked along the west shoulder, CHP officials noted. The impact of the crash severely damaged the passenger side of the Civic, and Marin was pronounced dead at the scene.

Marin’s mother, Sandra Flores, described her son as a talented young man with a passion for music, sports, and community. He had recently celebrated his 22nd birthday on October 28 and was known for his love of running and coaching.

Flores shared that Marin had dedicated his life to giving back to his community, hoping to mentor local youth as a coach. She noted that this devastating loss felt especially painful as it echoed a tragedy from 17 years prior when her own mother passed away in a car accident.

CHP officials stated that neither drugs nor alcohol appear to have played a role in the collision, though the investigation is ongoing.

The Marin family has set up a GoFundMe for those who wish to support them during this difficult time.

Wrongful Death Claims

Losing a loved one in a traffic accident is devastating, and the pain can be made worse by the financial strain that often follows. Medical bills, funeral costs, and the loss of income to support dependents of the deceased can leave families struggling.

Filing a Wrongful Death claim against those responsible can provide compensation to help with these expenses. However, insurance companies will always try to pay as little as possible, making it difficult for families to receive the full amount they deserve.

This is why having an experienced personal injury attorney is essential so that they can fight to make sure you receive fair compensation and justice for your loved one.

Comparative Negligence

California Law upholds the concept of Comparative Negligence, which allows more than one party to share blame in a personal injury accident. Injured victims may have their compensation reduced if they are found partially to blame.
