Tulare County, CA – A devastating crash near the Lindsay-Strathmore Cemetery left two men dead and another hospitalized on Sunday afternoon, November 3, 2024, KSEE reports.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Porterville, the incident occurred around 4:05 PM at the intersection of Foothill Avenue and Lindmore Street.
Authorities report that a white Silverado pickup truck was traveling southbound on Foothill Avenue and ran a stop sign as it approached Lindmore Street, a main thoroughfare. The Silverado collided with a westbound Kia on Lindmore, causing both vehicles to overturn due to the force of the impact.
CHP officers arriving at the scene discovered that both men inside the Kia had died from their injuries. Meanwhile, the driver of the Silverado sustained major injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. In a confusing twist, a passenger in the Silverado reportedly fled the scene before law enforcement arrived.
Investigators are currently examining the circumstances surrounding the crash, including the reason for the Silverado passenger’s departure. CHP has not yet determined if alcohol or drugs were involved in the collision, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Wrongful Death Claims
Even if a fatal accident doesn’t lead to criminal charges, families who lose a loved one can still file a Wrongful Death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. This compensation can help cover medical bills, funeral costs, and lost income that the family depended on.
However, insurance companies will always try to pay as little as possible, making it difficult for families to receive the full amount they deserve. So, having an experienced personal injury attorney is essential to receive fair compensation and justice for your loved one.
Stop Sign Laws
California Law requires drivers to come to a complete stop at a Stop sign (California Vehicle Code 22450). Drivers may only enter the intersection when it appears safe for all parties to do so (California Vehicle Code 21802).
