Gilroy, CA — Two lives were lost in a tragic head-on collision on Highway 25 near Bloomfield Avenue early Monday morning, October 28, 2024, according to KSBW with additional reporting from NBC Bay Area News.
Authorities have identified the victims as 35-year-old Priscilla Jones, a 911 dispatcher for Santa Clara County, and a 24-year-old Gilroy man whose identity has yet to be publicly released.
The crash was reported just after 12:30 AM through an iPhone crash alert, which led California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers to the site where both vehicles blocked the roadway.
Investigators report that the 24-year-old man was driving a 2018 Nissan Sentra southbound on Highway 25. For reasons still under investigation, he crossed the double yellow line into the northbound lane, colliding head-on with Jones’ Dodge Charger. The impact was fatal for both drivers, who were pronounced dead at the scene.
Highway 25 remained closed for about five hours as CHP officers conducted their investigation. No cause has been determined, and it remains unclear whether drugs or alcohol were involved. The investigation continues.
Priscilla Jones was a wife, mother, devoted public servant, and co-owner of the Hollister-based small business MMM… Churros. She was known for her compassion and dedication to helping others.
In 2019, Jones received local recognition when she guided a homeless woman through childbirth over a 911 call, a service that went beyond her duties. She later helped raise funds for the new mother, exemplifying her kindness and commitment to others.
Wrongful Death Claims
Losing a loved one in a traffic accident is devastating, and the pain can be made worse by the financial strain that often follows. Medical bills, funeral costs, and the loss of income to support dependents of the deceased can leave families struggling.
Filing a Wrongful Death claim against those responsible can provide compensation to help with these expenses. However, insurance companies will always try to pay as little as possible, making it difficult for families to receive the full amount they deserve.
This is why having an experienced personal injury attorney is essential so that they can fight to make sure you receive fair compensation and justice for your loved one.
