Omar Arriaga, 49, Killed in Hwy 101 Multi-Vehicle Crash in Monterey County

Monterey County, CA – A fatal collision on Highway 101 on Saturday, October 19, 2024, claimed the life of 49-year-old Omar Arriaga of Salinas, according to KSBW.

The crash occurred near Gloria Road at around 11:45 AM when Arriaga’s Chevrolet Colorado was struck from behind by a 16-year-old driving a 2021 Chevrolet 2500 towing a trailer.

The impact caused Arriaga’s vehicle to overturn, resulting in his death at the scene. His passenger, whose identity has not been released, was rushed to Natividad Medical Center with injuries.

The crash involved a chain reaction, causing three other vehicles to collide. Fortunately, the occupants of those vehicles were not harmed. The southbound lanes of Highway 101 were closed for several hours, reopening at 3:13 PM.

The investigation is ongoing, with no indication that alcohol played a role. The 16-year-old driver, who held a valid license, is cooperating with authorities as they determine if charges will be filed.

Personal Injury Claims

After a car accident, victims and their families often deal with emotional distress along with unexpected financial burdens, such as medical bills, lost income, and, in the worst cases, burial costs.

Those responsible for the accident are responsible for covering these expenses through their insurance provider. However, insurance companies usually try to reduce payouts for claims they can’t deny.

This is where a skilled personal injury attorney becomes essential, helping ensure victims get the justice and compensation they deserve.
