Modesto, CA — On Saturday, October 5, 2024, 35-year-old Travis Gredvig of Tracy lost his life in a motorcycle crash on Shiloh Road southwest of Modesto, according to The Modesto Bee.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) received a call at 8:45 PM from Gredvig’s friend, who had been riding with him earlier and grew concerned when they lost contact. Using Gredvig’s phone, officers were able to trace his location to the area near Shiloh and Paradise roads.
When officers arrived, they discovered Gredvig’s crashed motorcycle and found him unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators believe Gredvig had been traveling south on Shiloh Road when, for reasons still under investigation, he veered left, leaving the roadway. The motorcycle traveled off the east side of the road, struck a dirt patch, and ultimately collided with a tree stump. Gredvig was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, according to the CHP.
The investigation is ongoing as the CHP works to determine what caused Gredvig to lose control of his motorcycle.
Liability in Single-Vehicle Collisions
In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. A personal injury attorney plays a critical role in sorting through these details to help victims and their families get the compensation they deserve.
Once liability is determined, the attorney can negotiate with insurance companies, who often try to reduce payouts. That means having legal representation can be vital to ensure victims receive fair compensation for their loss.
