Folsom, CA – At least five people, including two children, were injured in a multi-vehicle collision involving a FedEx delivery truck on Sunday afternoon, October 6, 2024, on the Lake Natoma Crossing bridge, according to The Sacramento Bee.
The Folsom Police Department reported that the crash occurred at approximately 12:09 PM on Folsom Boulevard.
Investigations indicate that a southbound FedEx truck crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with another vehicle, causing a chain reaction that involved three additional vehicles. Among those involved were a GMC truck pulling a trailer, a Toyota Rav4, and a Nissan Rogue.
Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene, where five individuals, including a 7-year-old boy and a 5-year-old girl, were transported to local hospitals with injuries. The FedEx driver, described as a 32-year-old man, sustained severe shoulder pain. Two other motorists in their 40s were also injured. According to the Folsom Fire Department, all of the injured individuals are expected to survive.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation as authorities work to determine what led to the FedEx truck veering into the opposite lanes. The Folsom Police Department is asking for any witnesses to come forward as the investigation continues.
Personal Injury Claims
After a car accident, victims and their families often deal with emotional distress along with unexpected financial burdens, such as medical bills, lost income, and, in the worst cases, burial costs.
Those responsible for the accident are responsible for covering these expenses through their insurance provider. However, insurance companies usually try to reduce payouts for claims they can’t deny.
This is where a skilled personal injury attorney becomes essential, helping ensure victims get the justice and compensation they deserve.
Comparative Negligence
California Law upholds the concept of Comparative Negligence, which allows more than one party to share blame in a personal injury accident. Injured victims may have their compensation reduced if they are found partially to blame.
Failure to Yield
In California, as in other states, “failure to yield” means that you didn’t give the right of way to the right person at the right time. As such, failure to yield or stop is closely related to the “right of way.” When a motorist fails to yield, stop or otherwise avoid an accident and causes a crash, he or she can be held liable for injuries and damages suffered by a victim.
