Bakersfield, CA – The Kern County Coroner’s Office has identified 39-year-old Marco Antonio Caballero Flores, a Bakersfield resident, as the victim of a fatal head-on collision on Highway 58 early Saturday morning, September 14, 2024. The accident occurred around 2 AM near Edison Road, according to KGET.
Flores was driving eastbound when his vehicle collided head-on with another car traveling in the opposite direction. California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers responded to the scene and confirmed that Flores died upon impact. The driver of the other vehicle was not immediately identified, and details about their condition remain unclear.
At this time, it is not known whether alcohol, drugs, or distracted driving were contributing factors. An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of Flores’ death. Authorities are asking anyone who may have witnessed the accident or has relevant information to contact them.
Wrongful Death Claims
Determining fault in a collision can involve many factors. One key way a personal injury attorney can help families after the loss of a loved one in a traffic accident is by establishing legal responsibility.
If someone else is found partly responsible for the death, the family may be able to file a Wrongful Death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. This can provide compensation to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income or support for the family.
