Bakersfield, CA — According to KGET, the Kern County Coroner’s Office has identified the driver who lost his life in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 early Thursday morning, September 12, 2024, as 55-year-old Andrey Moroz from Keizer, Oregon. Moroz was behind the wheel of a semi-truck that rolled over near Stockdale Highway around 2:59 AM.
California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports indicate that Moroz made an unsafe turning movement, causing the tractor-trailer to leave the roadway. The vehicle then overturned onto its right side, blocking the number one lane of I-5. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene, but sadly, Moroz was pronounced dead upon their arrival.
An autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause and manner of death. However, investigators do not believe drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash. The CHP is continuing its investigation into the incident.
Liability in Single-Vehicle Collisions
In certain situations, investigations may uncover that some liability for a single-vehicle collision falls on other drivers nearby or even on unsafe roadway structures. Sorting through these details to help victims and their families secure proper compensation is one of the key services a personal injury attorney offers.
After establishing liability, a personal injury attorney can negotiate with insurance companies on the victim’s behalf. Insurance companies invariably aim to minimize payouts for claims they cannot deny, making legal representation crucial for obtaining fair compensation.
