Sacramento, CA – A woman lost her life Thursday morning, August 29, 2024, after a collision involving a scooter and a box truck in East Sacramento, according to KCRA. The accident occurred around 10:30 AM in the area where Alhambra Boulevard intersects with Folsom Boulevard.
Sacramento Police officers were dispatched to the scene shortly after receiving reports of the collision. The victim, who was riding a scooter at the time, was struck by a box truck at the intersection. Despite the rapid response of emergency services, the woman succumbed to her injuries on site.
The area around Alhambra Boulevard and Folsom Boulevard is known for its mix of residential and commercial properties, making it a frequent route for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers. The presence of the nearby Capitol Avenue, which turns into Folsom Boulevard at this point, further adds to the complexity of the traffic flow in the area.
The Sacramento Police Department confirmed that “all parties” involved in the incident remained at the scene and are fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
In the immediate aftermath of the collision, Alhambra Boulevard was closed between Capitol Avenue and L Street to facilitate the investigation. The roadway has since been reopened to traffic, though the investigation continues.
Wrongful Death Claims
Establishing fault in a collision can depend on multiple factors. One crucial way a personal injury attorney can assist grieving families is by determining legal liability after the loss of a loved one in a traffic accident.
If another party is found to hold some responsibility for the death, the family may be eligible to file a Wrongful Death claim with the at-fault driver’s insurance provider. This claim can provide compensation to help cover hospital fees, burial costs, and the loss of support for the deceased’s dependents.
