Clovis, CA – According to ABC30, a motorcyclist who lost his life in a devastating collision on Wednesday morning, August 28, 2024, has been identified as 37-year-old Josh Cowdrey of Clovis. The incident occurred just before 11 AM on Barstow Avenue, near Stanford Avenue, and involved an SUV driven by 57-year-old Tammera Pittman.
According to the Clovis Police Department, Pittman was driving her SUV when she attempted a left turn, pulling directly into the path of Cowdrey’s motorcycle. The force of the collision was severe, and despite the rapid response of emergency personnel, Cowdrey was pronounced dead at the scene. The Fresno County Coroner’s Office confirmed his identity on Thursday.
The area where the accident occurred, between Sunnyside and Fowler Avenues, is a busy stretch of road frequented by local traffic and students from nearby Clovis High School. However, police confirmed that no students were involved in the incident.
Pittman was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving under the influence and later charged with gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. She was booked into the Fresno County Jail but has since posted bail and been released.
