Fresno, CA — According to ABC30, a woman is recovering from injuries sustained in a hit-and-run crash late Sunday night, August 25, 2024, on Highway 41. The collision occurred just after 10 PM on the southbound lanes, south of North Avenue.
The victim was a passenger in a Dodge Ram pickup truck that was struck from behind by a Chevy Camaro. The impact sent the Camaro spinning into a guardrail before it caught fire. In the chaos that followed, the driver of the Camaro fled the scene on foot, leaving the woman in pain and distress.
The woman, who complained of chest pain after the crash, was quickly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Her injuries have not been detailed, but her condition has brought significant concern, especially as she was left without any immediate aid from the fleeing driver.
The man who was driving the Dodge Ram was fortunate to escape without injury.
Personal Injury Claims
When the actions of reckless drivers cause injuries to others, the cost of caring for those injuries should not fall on the victims. Filing a claim with the at-fault driver’s insurance provider can offer compensation to help cover medical bills and the time taken off work to recover.
However, insurance companies have a vested interest in denying or minimizing claims. This is why the assistance of a knowledgeable personal injury attorney can make all the difference.
California Hit-and-Run Laws
California Law requires drivers involved in a collision to stop their vehicle, notify law enforcement, and exchange insurance information with others involved. Failure to do so, considered to be a “hit-and-run,” is a misdemeanor in cases of property damage and a felony when someone has been injured.
