Charles Bourassa, 76, Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Elkhorn Blvd in Foothill Farms

Foothill Farms, CA — A three-vehicle collision on Elkhorn Boulevard on Friday, August 23, 2024, resulted in the death of 76-year-old Charles Bourassa, a Sacramento resident, according to The Sacramento Bee.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident unfolded around 2:40 PM when a pickup truck driver, heading east on Elkhorn Boulevard, failed to notice a vehicle ahead of him and rear-ended a van driven by Bourassa.

The impact was severe, sending the van crashing into a nearby pole. Bourassa was rushed to a hospital in critical condition but, sadly, succumbed to his injuries on Saturday.

Officer Justin Fetterly from the CHP’s North Sacramento office reported that the pickup truck also collided with a sedan positioned in front of the van. Fortunately, the drivers of the pickup truck and sedan were not injured.

Wrongful Death Claims

Whether or not a collision results in criminal charges for any of those involved, families who have lost a loved one in a fatal collision may be able to file a Wrongful Death claim with the insurance provider of the at-fault driver.

The compensation provided by a Wrongful Death claim can relieve the financial burdens created by medical expenses, burial costs, and the loss of income needed to support the deceased’s dependents.

Insurance companies will work to reduce any claim they cannot deny. This is where the help of a knowledgeable personal injury attorney proves invaluable, negotiating on behalf of victims and their families to ensure they receive proper compensation.
