Stockton, CA — In an act of childhood playfulness turned tragic, 11-year-old Queen Marie Stacy Norwood lost her life early Sunday morning, August 25, 2024, according to CBS13.
The crash occurred around 7:45 AM on North El Dorado Street, and involved a vehicle filled with six children, ranging from 11 to 15 years old, one of whom was driving the vehicle.
The car veered off North El Dorado Street and crashed into a tree, leaving behind a scene of devastation and sorrow. Tire marks on the ground told the grim story of the car’s path as it left the roadway and collided with the tree.
Queen Marie Stacy Norwood, identified by her grieving family, was one of the passengers in the car. After being ejected from the vehicle, she was rushed to a hospital where, despite the efforts of medical staff, she succumbed to her injuries.
The other children involved in the crash were also taken to the hospital, suffering from a range of injuries, including broken bones and bruises. Thankfully, they are expected to survive, though they may face a long road to recovery.
By Sunday evening, Queen’s family had turned the crash site into a poignant memorial. They lit candles, paused to reflect, and stopped traffic on the busy street to release pink balloons in her honor, a touching tribute to the young life lost too soon.
