San Joaquin County, CA — Two individuals sustained injuries in a car crash Monday night, August 19, 2024, involving a vehicle colliding with a bucket truck in an active construction zone, according to ABC10.
The accident occurred around 10:30 PM along westbound Interstate 205 near El Rancho Road, when an 18-year-old driver from San Joaquin County operating a 2016 Chevrolet attempted to change lanes.
The Chevrolet veered into the closed lane where a 2022 Ram bucket truck was stationed as part of ongoing Caltrans roadwork and struck the rear of the truck, causing severe damage to both vehicles. Inside the bucket truck was a 27-year-old male Caltrans contractor from Stockton who had been working in the left rear bucket at the time of the crash.
Emergency responders quickly arrived on the scene and transported both the driver of the Chevrolet and the Caltrans worker to nearby hospitals. The contractor suffered major injuries, while the driver of the Chevrolet sustained moderate. Authorities have not yet released their identities.
Caltrans issued a statement in the wake of the accident, emphasizing the critical importance of exercising extra caution when driving through construction zones.
Currently, drugs and alcohol are not believed to have played a role in the collision. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash to determine the exact cause.
Personal Injury Claims
After a vehicular accident, victims and their families often face not only emotional distress but also the sudden financial burdens of medical bills, loss of income during recovery, and, in tragic cases, burial expenses.
These costs should be borne by those responsible for causing the injuries and their insurance provider. However, insurance companies typically try to minimize the compensation for any claim they cannot deny. This is why having the assistance of a skilled personal injury attorney is crucial to ensuring justice for victims of vehicular accidents.
