Tori Keith, 27, of Modesto Killed in Harding Ave, Golf Rd Crash

Turlock, CA — A traffic collision late Friday morning, August 9, 2024, near Turlock claimed the life of 27-year-old Tori Keith of Modesto, according to The Modesto Bee. The fatal crash occurred around 10:45 AM at the intersection of Harding Avenue and Golf Road.

Keith was driving a 2001 Honda sedan eastbound on Harding Avenue and had stopped at the intersection’s stop sign. As she accelerated out of the stop, her vehicle entered the path of a 2013 Chevrolet driven by a 19-year-old resident of Turlock. The Chevrolet, which was traveling southbound on Golf Road, broadsided the Honda.

The impact of the collision was severe, and Keith was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Chevrolet was not injured.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help cover the costs of Keith’s memorial service. The page describes Keith as having “a young, wild, and free-living soul that couldn’t be tamed.” The tribute continues, “Nothing could stop her from being her, and that was the best thing about her… It was a blessing to all of us to have been touched by such a beautiful soul.”

As of Friday afternoon, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) stated it was unknown if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.

Wrongful Death Claims

Establishing fault in a collision can depend on multiple factors. One crucial way a personal injury attorney can assist grieving families is by determining legal liability after the loss of a loved one in a traffic accident.

If another party is found to hold some responsibility for the death, the family may be eligible to file a Wrongful Death claim with the at-fault driver’s insurance provider. This claim can provide compensation to help cover hospital fees, burial costs, and the loss of support for the deceased’s dependents.

Stop Sign Laws

California Law requires drivers to come to a complete stop at a Stop sign (California Vehicle Code 22450). Drivers may only enter the intersection when it appears safe for all parties to do so (California Vehicle Code 21802).
