Clovis, CA— According to The Fresno Bee, 16-year-old Buchanan High School student Sandro Lazo of Clovis was killed in a bicycle collision on Thursday night, August 8, 2024.

The fatal accident occurred at the intersection of Fowler Avenue and Perrin Road. According to authorities, Lazo was riding his bicycle westbound on Perrin when he approached a stop sign at the intersection with Fowler Avenue.

Lazo made a left turn to head south on Fowler, but this maneuver placed him directly in the path of an oncoming vehicle, which did not have a stop sign. The vehicle struck Lazo, resulting in critical injuries.

He was transported to a local hospital for treatment where, despite the efforts of medical staff, Lazo succumbed to his injuries. The driver involved in the collision remained at the scene and cooperated with the California Highway Patrol.

Buchanan High School principal Omar Hemaidan released a statement to express the sorrow felt throughout the school: “This is a devastating loss for our entire school and community, and our hearts go out to Sandro’s family.”

Wrongful Death Claims

While no amount of money can bring back loved ones lost in a vehicular fatality, the emotional toll of such a loss is often compounded by the financial burden that falls on surviving family members.

Filing a Wrongful Death claim with the insurance provider of those who bear even partial liability can provide compensation to help cover medical expenses, burial costs, and the loss of support for the deceased’s dependents.

Insurance companies have a vested interest in minimizing the payouts for claims. Therefore, the expertise of a skilled personal injury attorney is crucial in securing fair compensation and justice for the deceased.
